Coppers: Christmas in Dublin
Even though we may not like to admit it to ourselves, the next few weeks it’s all hands on deck for the run up to Christmas, here is a low down of some of the Christmas events that are happening in Dublin over the next few weeks.
Christmas Market
Thursday 13th Nov: Dublin’s first city centre traditional Christmas market will launch this Thursday and is expected to attract an additional 600,000 visitors to Dublin.
The Market will be free to the public and will open daily from 12 noon to 8pm.
With more than 60 trade concessions located in traditional wooden chalets along the exterior of St Stephen’s Green Park between Grafton Street and Merrion Row.
The Market will offer a unique selection of quality Irish made handcrafted gift items as well as seasonal food and drinks to include charcoal grills, crepes, bratwurst, chocolate fountain, Gluhwein (Mulled Wine) as well as other seasonal drinks.
There will also be carolers on hand to help you in the festive spirit.
Christmas Lights
Thursday 13th: Laurence Kinlan, who plays Elmo in Love/Hate, will help turn on the iconic Christmas lights on Dublin’s Grafton Street. Local act the Original Rudeboys will also be at the event, which happens tomorrow at 5pm at the Stephen’s Green end of the city’s main shopping street.
Sunday 16th: The ORB’s will be back in town again on Sunday 16th at 4pm where they will turn on the spectacular Christmas lights on Henry Street.
At the Henry Street event, there will be on street family entertainers, face painters, festive songs from the Halleluia Gospel Choir and a special appearance from the famous Arnotts Santa.
Sunday 30th: Lord Mayor Christy Burke turns on the main lights on O’Connell Street on Sunday 30 November, at 3.30pm.
